This month, the General Assembly adopted House Resolution 25 offered by Representative Bennett (R-Pontiac) which designates June 15, 2017 as Illinois Elder Abuse Awareness day. The Center for Disease Control estimates that 1 of every 10 people over the age of 60 will experience some form of maltreatment. This Resolution draws attention to the fact that seniors are vulnerable to financial exploitation, abuse and neglect.

State Representatives David Welter & Mark Batinick will be hosting a free Jobs Fair from 9 a.m. to 12:30p.m. on June 23rd at Troy Middle School 5800 Theodore Road in Plainfield.
 
The Christian Motorcyclist Association will host the 3rd annual Motorcycle Blessing. All are welcome to attend.

The event will take place Sunday, April 30, 2017 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Peace Chapel. The chapel is located at 852 School Street, Morris, IL 60450 (behind Bedford Sales).

Starting March 14, 2017, State Representative David Welter's office will be hosting traveling office hours at the Coal City library from 10:30 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. with Representative Parkhurst's office. The two offices' Legislative Aides will be on-hand to answer policy questions and help constituents navigate state agencies.
The Contractor's Association of Will and Grundy Counties is excited to once again offer scholarships to students who will study a construction-related area in college.

Interested applicants must be the son or daughter of a full-time employee of a CAWGC member company or Will/Grundy union building tradesman. The student must be attending college full-time in the Fall of 2017. The application form is available on the CAWGC website here.
