Each year, the Illinois Legislative Staff Intern Program (ILSIP) provides 24 unique internships for keenly interested, deeply motivated and talented individuals to work with the Illinois state legislature. With the capitol as both workplace and classroom, ILSIP interns earn four (4) graduate credits in political studies from the University of Illinois at Springfield.

The program offers interns the opportunity to work as professional legislative staff with either the partisan leadership of the Illinois General Assembly or the Legislative Research Unit. Interns will also participate in a mandatory academic seminar conducted by the University of Illinois at Springfield.

ILSIP interns work full-time for 10.5 months for a monthly stipend of $2,100, along with a tuition waiver for four (4) graduate credit hours and the option for paid student health insurance. The program accepts applicants from all academic backgrounds who have completed either an undergraduate or advanced degree. Applicants who are pursuing an undergraduate degree must have been awarded the degree prior to the start of the internship.

All application materials are due March 1, 2017. Final selections are announced in May. Internships will begin August 16, 2017. For more information, interested students and prospective candidates can visit the ILSIP website at www.uis.edu/illaps/ilsip.
According to the Grundy County Clerk and Recorder Kay Olson, property owners are the target of a recent scam involving deeds and local property records. A Grundy County resident was repeatedly contacted by Records Recovery Services of Naperville. This company provides copies of deeds and charges homeowners an $87 service fee.

It is not necessary to pay a third-party to print a copy of your deed for you. When a piece of property is transferred legally, the transaction is recorded in the county recorder's office. If you misplace an original copy of your deed, the recorder's office can provide you a new copy for a fee of $2-4, depending on the page count.

Please contact the Grundy County Recorder's office at (815) 941-3224 or visit them in person at the Grundy County courthouse if you have any questions.
