Rep. Welter Announces Committee Assignments

MORRIS – Rep. David Welter (R-Morris) announced his committee assignments today for the remainder of the 99th Illinois General Assembly, with a focus on his district’s agricultural and energy-driven economy and education issues.

Rep. Welter has been appointed to serve on the following committees: Agriculture & Conservation, Energy; Appropriations – Public Safety; Elementary & Secondary Education: Charter School Policy; Judiciary – Criminal; Special Needs Services; the Firearms and Firearm Safety Subcommittee and the Criminal Justice Reform Subcommittee; taking over all of former Rep. John Anthony’s assignments.

“My committee assignments will enable me to be an effective advocate on the issues that matter most to local families,” Rep. Welter said. “Our agriculture and energy industries are the heart of our state and local economy. We are going to protect and strengthen ag and energy jobs in our district.”

“I am also very excited to serve on the committee on Special Needs Services,” Rep. Welter added. “I want parents of kids with special needs to know that their child’s education is just as important to us as that of every other child. Students with special needs must be embraced, not overlooked. Together we are going to make sure we fulfill our responsibility to them and every student in the State of Illinois.”
