MORRIS – Rep. David Welter (R-Morris) announced his committee assignments today for the remainder of the 99th Illinois General Assembly, with a focus on his district’s agricultural and energy-driven economy and education issues.

Rep. Welter has been appointed to serve on the following committees: Agriculture & Conservation, Energy; Appropriations – Public Safety; Elementary & Secondary Education: Charter School Policy; Judiciary – Criminal; Special Needs Services; the Firearms and Firearm Safety Subcommittee and the Criminal Justice Reform Subcommittee; taking over all of former Rep. John Anthony’s assignments.

“My committee assignments will enable me to be an effective advocate on the issues that matter most to local families,” Rep. Welter said. “Our agriculture and energy industries are the heart of our state and local economy. We are going to protect and strengthen ag and energy jobs in our district.”

“I am also very excited to serve on the committee on Special Needs Services,” Rep. Welter added. “I want parents of kids with special needs to know that their child’s education is just as important to us as that of every other child. Students with special needs must be embraced, not overlooked. Together we are going to make sure we fulfill our responsibility to them and every student in the State of Illinois.”

MORRIS – David Allen Welter (R-Morris) was sworn in as the new State Representative of Illinois’ 75th District today in the top floor courtroom of the Grundy County Courthouse surrounded by family, friends and community leaders; filling the vacancy created by the resignation of former State Rep. John Anthony. The 75th District is comprised of portions of Kendall, Grundy, LaSalle and Will Counties.

“I am eager to get to work for the families and taxpayers of the 75th District,” Rep. Welter said. “I look forward to listening to the needs and concerns of local residents and advocating for them in Springfield. Together we can strengthen the quality of life for everyone in our community and help put Illinois back on the path to growth and prosperity.”

Prior to his appointment to the Illinois General Assembly, Representative Welter served as Chairman of the Grundy County Board, where he was first elected in 2010. At the time of his appointment, David served as Operations & Human Resources Manager for Illinois Truck & Equipment, one of the nation’s largest independent construction dealers in addition to his role as Board Chairman. He will now bring his valuable private sector experience and knowledge of local government to the Illinois General Assembly.
